THE WARDROBE CHANGE

October 18, 2023

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans 12:2

If you’re reading this today while still wearing the filthy, sinful rags of this world, it’s possible that your life still mirrors the patterns of this world. But if you’ve experienced a genuine wardrobe change in Christ—putting off your old self and putting on your new self—then something incredible has happened. The Bible tells us that God, through His Holy Spirit, has taken residence in your heart and initiated a profound transformation from the inside out.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world. It’s a challenge rooted in the wisdom of Romans 12:2, which encourages us not to allow ourselves to be molded by the world’s values, priorities, and behaviors. Instead, we are called to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. It’s a call to resist the temptation to live like the world, with all its distractions, superficialities, and fleeting pleasures.

The process of transformation begins with a conscious decision to put off the old self—the habits, attitudes, and behaviors that align with worldly standards. It’s like shedding those dirty, sinful rags we once wore. But merely discarding the old isn’t enough. We must also put on the new self, which is marked by Christ-like qualities such as love, compassion, humility, and righteousness.

When you make this wardrobe change, something incredible takes place within you. The Holy Spirit enters your heart and begins a divine makeover. He convicts, guides, and empowers you to live a life that reflects Christ’s character. It’s not an instant process; it’s a lifelong journey of becoming more like Him.

God’s transformative work in you is accompanied by His generous gifting. He bestows upon you spiritual gifts, talents, and abilities uniquely tailored to serve His purposes. These gifts are not stagnant but are meant to grow and develop over time. As you exercise and nurture them, they become powerful tools for fulfilling God’s mission for your life.

Remember, God’s ultimate goal is not just to save you but to use you as a vessel of His grace, love, and truth in a world desperate for His touch. The challenge is to resist the allure of conformity to the world’s ways and instead embrace the transformation God has initiated in you. As you do, you’ll discover the beauty of fulfilling His will, which is good, pleasing, and perfect.
