Transformed by God

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." - Galatians 5:22-23

Today’s key verses tell us that when we are “in Christ,” God gives us access to new attributes through His Spirit. This passage lists the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. God equips us with His fruit, and He changes what we do. But why does He do this?

You were bought by God, saved by God, and redeemed by God so that you would, in turn, be used by God to bring glory to Him. "Who you are" is defined by "whose you are," and "whose you are" determines "what you do." If you belong to the world, you'll do worldly things. If you belong to God, you'll do godly things.

Salvation isn’t merely about behavior modification; it’s about becoming a new creation. When you are "in Christ," the old is gone, and the new has come. You should see a difference between 'what you did' and 'what you do.' God changes not only your eternity but also your heart, priorities, passions, and purpose.

When you are bought by Christ and belong to Him, you not only inherit His Spirit, fruit, and blessings but also His mission. You are called to live out His love, joy, peace, and other attributes in a world desperate for His light.

God's Spirit empowers us to live transformed lives. He produces in us the fruit that reflects His character. As we defer to His leadership, we find ourselves exhibiting love instead of hate, joy instead of despair, peace instead of anxiety, and patience instead of frustration.

Remember that you are not the same person you used to be. You are a new creation, empowered by God's Spirit to live a life that honors Him. Let His love, joy, peace, and other fruit shine through you, drawing others to Him and fulfilling His mission in the world.
