Jesus Is Enough

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.” - Isaiah 26:3-4

Here’s the thing about trust: when it moves in, worry moves out. But when worry moves in, trust leaves. Worry is like a big flashing sign that says trust has taken a backseat. So, what is trust, really?

In the Bible, trust carries the picture of complete surrender, like laying face down before God, relying fully on Him in every situation. It’s that kind of confidence that changes everything. Psalm 84:12 says, "Blessed is the one who trusts in you." When you truly trust God, you experience peace that surpasses all understanding.

The Good Shepherd doesn’t just leave you to figure life out on your own. Psalm 22 shows us Jesus dying for His sheep, but Psalm 23 shows us something even more incredible—Jesus living for His sheep.

The Lord is your shepherd today, right now, and He’s actively meeting your needs. Psalm 23 is all about the present: “He lets me lie down in green pastures,” “He leads me beside quiet waters,” and “He renews my life.” Every single action is in the present tense because Jesus is involved in your life today.

Years ago, a pastor gave his sermon topic to a local newspaper: “The Lord is my Shepherd.” When asked if that was all, he replied, “That’s enough.” And it’s true, Jesus is enough. When the Lord is your Shepherd, He’s enough to meet your needs, calm your fears, clear your vision, and restore your soul. He’s enough to give you peace today, tomorrow, and forever.

So if you find yourself worrying today, take a moment to ask yourself: am I trusting God in this? If not, it’s time to shift your focus. Isaiah 26:3 reminds us that God keeps in perfect peace those whose minds are fixed on Him. When you trust the Great Shepherd, you can rest, knowing that He is enough.
