Living with Hope in the Wait
"Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him." - Psalm 62:8
Waiting. It’s something we all experience, whether we’re waiting for answers, healing, or direction. Sometimes, waiting can feel like a burden. Yet, as we look to God's Word, we see that there is a purposeful way to wait. If you’re in a season of waiting today, take these three key thoughts from Scripture to heart:
First, wait quietly. Psalm 62:8 reminds us that our hope is in God. In the noise of life, it can be hard to hear God’s still, small voice. When we wait quietly, we create space for God to speak. We let go of our striving and trust in His timing and His plans. Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do in the waiting is simply to be still and remember that He is in control.
Second, wait patiently. Psalm 130:5 encourages us, “I wait for the LORD; I wait and put my hope in his word.” Patience is not passive, it’s active trust. It’s choosing to believe that God’s timing is perfect, even when it doesn’t match our own. While we wait, we continue to place our hope in His promises, knowing He is faithful to fulfill them.
Finally, wait expectantly. Psalm 37:7 tells us, “Be silent before the LORD and wait expectantly for him.” Our waiting should be filled with hope and anticipation for what God will do. He has always been faithful, and He will continue to be faithful. While we wait, we can be assured that God is working things out for our good, and He is preparing us for something far beyond what we can imagine.
As you apply these principles, don’t forget the example of those who waited in faith before us. Just as the early believers did, we can look back on God’s faithfulness in our own lives. Reflect on how He has provided, guided, and kept His promises.
Look around today and see how His presence surrounds you, reminding you that He is with you, even in the waiting. And most importantly, look forward with great faith, trusting that God will do all that He has promised.
