You're Looking for a Person

“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” - Luke 2:10-11

After 700 years of waiting, God’s promise of a Savior finally came to life in the quiet fields of Bethlehem. That night, an angel appeared to shepherds, shining with the glory of the Lord, and brought the best news the world had ever heard, “Today in the city of David, a Savior was born for you.”

Peace had come in the form of a child, Jesus. But Jesus didn’t just bring peace, He is our peace. Ephesians 2:14 says, “For He himself is our peace…” True, lasting peace isn’t found in things or places; it’s found in Him alone.

If you’re searching for peace today, know this: you’re looking for a person, not just a solution. Jesus is God’s gift of peace to the world. Colossians 3:15 tells us, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.” That’s the peace that fills us when we know Jesus and let Him take His rightful place in our lives.

You might wonder, though, if Jesus came as peace, why does our world still have so much conflict and brokenness? Maybe it’s even confusing to think of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, saying, “I didn’t come to bring peace, but a sword.” It sounds like a contradiction, doesn’t it? But understanding it lies in knowing that Jesus’ first coming and His second coming are two different parts of God’s plan.

At His first coming, Jesus came to bring us peace with God by offering Himself as the bridge back to Him. That’s the peace we receive when we accept Him as our Savior and Lord. It’s peace that changes our hearts, not necessarily our circumstances. But there’s more to the story. When Jesus returns, He will bring complete peace to the entire world. It is a day when all conflict will end, every heart will be made whole, and God’s peace will reign fully.

I want to challenge you to trust that even in a world filled with struggles, believe that Jesus is working out His perfect plan. True peace is here, and His name is Jesus. Will you let Him be your peace today?
