Will You Follow No Matter What?

"And Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, ‘You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.’ Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions." – Mark 10:21-22

Are you really willing to follow Jesus no matter what?

The rich young ruler in Mark 10 thought he was ready. He came to Jesus, eager to prove his devotion. He had kept the commandments. He lived a good life. But when Jesus asked for the one thing that had a hold on his heart, his wealth, he walked away sorrowful. He wanted to follow, but not at the cost of losing what he loved most.

Is that you? You say you want to follow Jesus, but is there something you are still holding on to? Maybe it is comfort, security, success, or approval. Maybe it is a relationship, a dream, or a habit. Whatever it is, Jesus is asking the same question: are you willing to give it up to follow Me?

Following Jesus is not about convenience. It is not about fitting Him into your life when it works for you. It is about surrender. It is about trusting that what He has for you is better than anything you are afraid to lose. The rich young ruler walked away from Jesus because he thought what he had was greater than what Jesus was offering. Do not make the same mistake.

When you choose to follow Jesus fully, no matter what it costs, you will never regret it. He may ask you to give up things you never thought you could live without, but what He gives in return is far greater. He gives peace that the world cannot offer, purpose that the world cannot provide, and eternal life that the world cannot promise.

So ask yourself, are you following Jesus on your terms, or are you willing to follow Him no matter what? Do not be like the rich young ruler who walked away. Trust that Jesus is worth whatever you have to leave behind. When you follow Him with your whole heart, you will never look back with regret.
