The Price of Love

"But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed." - Isaiah 53:5

Good Friday is a day that reminds us of the greatest act of love the world has ever seen. It was the day Jesus took our place, carried our punishment, and willingly endured the suffering that belonged to us. It was not just a brutal execution. It was not just an injustice. It was the fulfillment of God’s plan to redeem a world that could not save itself.

Isaiah 53:5 paints the picture clearly. Jesus was pierced, not for His own wrongdoing, but for ours. He was crushed under the weight of sin that did not belong to Him. He took the punishment that we earned so that we could have the peace that only He could give. Every wound, every drop of blood, every moment of agony had a purpose so that you could be healed, forgiven, and set free.

When you look at the cross, you are not just looking at suffering. You are looking at love. Love that does not hold back. Love that gives everything. Love that willingly endures the weight of sin so that you would not have to.

The world tries to define love in shallow ways, but this is what real love looks like. Love is sacrifice. Love is choosing someone else’s good over your own comfort. Love is Jesus taking the full wrath of sin so that you could experience the full grace of salvation.

Do not let Good Friday be just another day. Let it remind you of the price that was paid for you. Let it draw you to the feet of Jesus in awe and gratitude. Let it change the way you live because love like this deserves more than a passing thought. It deserves everything.
