The Value of a Home Builder
"She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." – Proverbs 31:26
Have you ever stopped to consider just how much a mother does? An article I read recently tried to break it down. They surveyed over 19,000 moms and listed all the different roles and responsibilities they take on every single day.
Housekeeper, Chief Financial Officer, Laundry Manager, Uber Driver, Teacher, Facilities Manager, Event Planner, Kitchen Manager, Chef, Nurse, Server, Interior Designer, Conflict Manager...the list goes on. And according to the article, the average mom works about 107 hours a week. That’s 15 hours a day, seven days a week. The calculated worth of a mom’s work? $184,820 a year.
Now, I don’t know who’s paying that salary, but if you ask me, a good, godly mother is worth so much more than that. And if you’ve ever been on the receiving end of that kind of love, service, and dedication, you know it’s true.
But here’s the thing. It’s not just about all the tasks a mother does. It’s about how she does them. God’s Word makes it clear that a good mother is a homebuilder. Proverbs 31:26 says, “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” A godly woman’s influence goes far beyond chores and responsibilities. It’s about pouring wisdom, kindness, and faith into the lives of those around her.
Being a homemaker isn’t a derogatory term. It’s a high calling. And it’s not just about being a stay-at-home mom. It’s about being a woman who understands her influence, whether she works inside the home, outside the home, or both. It’s about leading with wisdom, loving with intention, and building something that lasts.
You have a choice. You can be a home-breaker, or you can be a homebuilder. You can invest your time, energy, and love into the people God has placed in your life. You can choose to walk in wisdom and let God use you to make a lasting impact.
