The Beauty of Selflessness
"Who can find a wife of noble character? She is far more precious than jewels." – Proverbs 31:10
What does it mean to be a person of noble character? According to Proverbs 31, it’s about living with wisdom, integrity, and devotion. It’s about being trustworthy, dependable, hardworking, and focused on the needs of others.
Have you ever noticed that a big part of the word “mothers” is the word “others”? And that’s exactly what godly women are known for, living their lives with a mindset focused on others. It’s a constant, selfless effort to build up the people around them rather than tear them down.
Proverbs 31:11 describes this noble woman as someone who is completely trustworthy. “The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will not lack anything good.” She’s dependable. She’s consistent. And because of that, she’s a blessing to everyone around her.
But it doesn’t stop there. Verse 12 goes on to say, “She rewards him with good, not evil, all the days of her life.” This kind of devotion isn’t temporary. It’s not about being kind only when it’s convenient. It’s a lifelong commitment to blessing others and bringing goodness into their lives.
Proverbs 31:13 also highlights her work ethic. “She selects wool and flax and works with willing hands.” This isn’t just about labor. It’s about the heart behind the work. She’s willing. She’s diligent. She’s constantly pouring her effort into making sure her family is taken care of.
But what makes all of this so powerful is the motivation behind it. It’s not about getting recognition or applause. It’s about living a life that honors God by serving others.
A person of noble character is someone who understands that their actions have a lasting impact. It’s someone who chooses to build instead of tear down. And it’s someone who sees their role as an opportunity to pour out love, wisdom, and grace into the lives of others.
Are you living with a mindset of selflessness? Are you choosing to build others up instead of tearing them down? Because the influence of a noble character is far more precious than jewels, and it’s a gift that God uses to bless everyone around you.
