An Elevated Perspective
"If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." - Colossians 3:1-2
Real Christianity changes how you see the world. Paul says if you’ve been raised with Christ, your focus should be on things above. It’s not just a suggestion, it’s a reminder that Jesus has positioned you at a higher place. When you’re saved, you’re meant to live from that elevated perspective.
But here’s the problem. Too many Christians are living their lives with their eyes fixed on earthly things. They’re minding their own business, caught up in their hobbies and jobs, and piling up more stuff. And you know what? Those are some of the most miserable Christians out there. Why? Because God never called us to mind our own business. He called us to be about His business. It’s the whole reason we’re here. It’s not about us. It’s about Him.
When God describes a Christian in the Bible, He talks about someone who has experienced a complete change of heart and perspective. It’s not just about praying a prayer or going to church. It’s about letting God transform your mind so you think and live differently. It’s about setting your mind on things above, not on things that are temporary and fading away.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:31, “So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’” He wasn’t saying those things aren’t important. He was reminding us they’re not what life is all about. They’re temporary concerns that shouldn’t dominate our focus.
So, here’s the question: Has God changed your perspective? Are you seeing life from His point of view or just living like everyone else? If you’re following Jesus, your perspective should be higher, your priorities should be different, and your worries should be left in His hands.
Choose to live with an eternal perspective, seeking the things above.
