Hidden and Secure
"For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God." - Colossians 3:3
This verse says something powerful, you’ve died. But wait, we just read that you’ve been raised with Christ. So, what’s going on here? It’s all about identity. When Jesus died, your old self died too. The sinner separated from God is no more. That version of you is dead and gone.
But it doesn’t stop there. The new you has been raised to life. This is your new life in Christ. Saved, forgiven, changed, and never to be the same again. And where is this new life? It’s hidden with Christ in God. That word “hidden” carries the idea of security. Once you have new life in Christ, that life is protected, preserved, and completely secure in Him.
Jesus spoke about this same security in John 10:28-29, saying, “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” That’s not just encouragement. That’s a promise.
When someone worries about losing their salvation, these are the verses that need to be front and center. When you’re truly saved, your salvation isn’t left dangling by a thread. It’s locked in the vault of God the Son and sealed in the safe of God the Father. Jesus didn’t come to save you temporarily. He came to save you for eternity.
If your salvation is doubly secure, held tightly by both the Son and the Father, how could anyone steal the life Jesus gave you? They can’t. That’s why you can live in freedom. No one can steal your salvation. They can’t even see it.
Think about it. People can see your physical body, but they can’t see your saved soul. Your true life is hidden with Christ, protected, and secure forever. Let that truth sink in today. You’re not just alive, you’re securely alive in Christ.
