True Security
"For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught." - Proverbs 3:26
What comes to mind when you hear the word security? Maybe you think of a security guard or a home alarm system. Maybe you think about carrying a weapon or learning self-defense to feel safe. All of those things are about trying to protect yourself from danger.
But the Bible says, “For the LORD is your security.” When I first read that verse, my immediate thought was, “Yes, God is there and has my back, but I still need to do what I can to keep myself and my family safe.” That sounded reasonable at first. But then it hit me. That thought was a lie.
The enemy loves planting lies like that. He wants you to believe that Jesus alone isn’t enough to give you true security. He wants you to think you have to do it all yourself. That your efforts are the only thing standing between you and disaster.
But the Bible makes it clear. Jesus is the source of everything you need. Security, peace, hope, joy, it all comes from Him. The devil wants you to believe that you can find those things somewhere else, but that’s never the truth.
Here’s the reality. It’s not wrong to be cautious or take precautions. But if you’re putting your trust in anything other than Jesus, you’re missing the point. Real security doesn’t come from your own strength or preparation. It comes from knowing who God is and trusting Him completely.
Ask yourself if you’re relying more on your own abilities than you are on Jesus. What would it look like to truly believe that the Lord is your security? Trust Him today and let His security be the foundation you stand on.
