Where is Your Security?
"For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught." - Proverbs 3:26
Yesterday, we looked at how the Bible says that the Lord is our security. That means He alone has the power to protect us, provide for us, and keep us safe. When the Bible talks about God being our security, it’s talking about more than just physical protection. It’s about emotional stability, spiritual assurance, provision, guidance, and freedom from fear.
But if we’re honest, that’s not what the world teaches us. Our culture constantly tries to convince us that our security is wrapped up in other things. For some, it’s found in success, achievements, and building a strong resume. For others, it’s their bank account, their retirement plan, or their social status. Some people feel secure when they’re surrounded by the right people or living in the right neighborhood.
And if we’re really honest, some of us have been fooled into believing our security comes from our own efforts. We may say that God is our security, but our actions show we’re trusting in everything but Him.
Take a moment and finish this sentence: My sense of security comes from ____________. What would you say? Is it Jesus, or is it something else?
Make no mistake about it, The Lord is your security. Not your money, not your accomplishments, not the people around you. Those things can be taken away in an instant. But God’s protection and provision are eternal. His promises are unshakable.
Don’t let the world convince you to put your trust in things that can’t last. Ask yourself today what you’re really depending on. When you find yourself feeling anxious or afraid, check your foundation. Is your security truly in Jesus, or is it in something that can disappear in a moment? Let Him be the One you trust completely.
