The End of the Enemy

"Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years." - Revelation 20:1-2

It can be hard to picture a world without evil, but Scripture promises that day is coming. Revelation tells us that when Jesus returns and reigns on the earth, there will be no place for Satan in His kingdom. An angel will seize him, bind him, and shut him away for a thousand years.

That moment will not be symbolic or wishful thinking. It will be the fulfillment of God’s promise to remove the source of temptation and deception from the world. Satan will no longer have the power to influence, destroy, or accuse.

Some people question this, saying they do not see the word “millennium” in the Bible, so they wonder if it is real. But the truth is, the Bible is full of concepts we understand clearly, even when the exact words are not used. We believe in missions even though the word is not written in Scripture. We believe in the Trinity even though the word itself is not found in the text. In the same way, the thousand-year reign of Christ, described in Revelation, is a promise we can trust.

Look around today. Does it seem like Satan is already bound and powerless? Of course not. We see brokenness, sin, hatred, and rebellion all around us. But one day, that will change. One day, Jesus will not only rule over the earth but will also remove the enemy who has been working to destroy God’s creation from the beginning.

So what does this mean for you today? It means you live with hope. No matter how strong the pull of sin feels, no matter how loud the voice of temptation sounds, their time is limited. Evil does not get the final word. Satan does not write the last chapter. Jesus does.

Let this truth strengthen you today. Keep fighting the good fight, keep walking in obedience, and remember that the enemy who troubles you today will one day be silenced for good. Jesus wins. And because of that, so do you.
