Provision in the Middle of Nowhere

"Then the Lord said to Moses, 'Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you.'" - Exodus 16:4

Have you ever felt like you were stuck in a desert season? Not a literal desert, but a stretch of life where everything feels dry and directionless. It’s like you’re walking, but you’re not really sure where you are going. That was the Children of Israel. They were free from Egypt, but not yet in the Promised Land. They were just… in between. And in that in-between place, they had nothing. No crops. No stores. No backup plan.

But they had God.

And when their stomachs started growling and their hope started fading, God did something they never saw coming. He made it rain bread. Literal food fell from the sky. The Bible calls it manna. It showed up fresh every morning, just enough for that day. And it kept showing up. Day after day. Year after year. For forty years. Why? Because God wanted them to know He was the source of their provision. Not Pharaoh. Not Egypt. Not themselves. Just Him.

You may not be wandering in a desert, but maybe you’re in that in-between season. The job is uncertain. The finances are tight. The plan is unclear. And your daily question sounds like theirs did. What are we supposed to do now?

Here’s the good news. If you belong to God, He promises to provide for you. It may not always look how you expect. It may not show up when you want. But it will be enough. It will be daily. And it will be from Him.

So stop looking at your surroundings and start looking to your Source. He knows where you are. He knows what you need. And He has not forgotten how to send bread from the sky.
