Provision Always Follows Purpose
"And the king granted me what I asked, for the good hand of my God was upon me." - Nehemiah 2:8
When God gives you a vision, He never leaves you empty-handed. That is one of the clearest lessons from Nehemiah’s story. God had called him to rebuild the broken walls of Jerusalem, but Nehemiah had no materials, no money, and no manpower. On paper, the plan was impossible. But when Nehemiah stepped out in obedience, something incredible happened. God began to provide.
Nehemiah needed timber for gates and beams for walls. He didn’t own a lumberyard. He didn’t have contractors lined up. He didn’t have a budget. But what he did have was bold faith. And with that faith, he made a request to the king. And the Bible says the king granted his request. Not because Nehemiah had persuasive words or political power, but because the hand of God was on him.
This is how God works. When He calls you to something, He provides for that calling. That does not mean He provides everything up front. It doesn’t mean there won’t be moments where it feels like you’re walking into the unknown. But what it does mean is that you can trust Him for every step.
Maybe you feel like God has stirred something in your heart. A calling. A dream. A next step. And maybe your first thought is, I don’t have the resources. I don’t have the time. I don’t have the tools. Can I tell you something? You don’t need to have everything today. You just need to trust the One who does.
The same God who provided timber for Nehemiah is the same God who will provide exactly what you need when you need it. If you wait until you have everything figured out, you’ll never move. But if you start walking in faith, you’ll see God’s provision in ways you never could have predicted.
Don’t let a lack of resources stop you from trusting a God who owns it all. Provision always follows purpose. If God put it in your heart, He will put it in your hands.
