The Health of Your Mind

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." - Matthew 22:37

When Jesus was asked about the greatest commandment, He did not hesitate. He said the most important thing we can do is love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind. That answer was not random. Jesus was pointing us to what matters most to God, and at the same time, He was showing us what it really means to live a healthy life.

If we are going to honor God, it is not just about our actions. It is about what is going on in our heart and soul. But notice that last part, He also said to love God with all your mind. That means your thought life matters to God. The things you dwell on, the conversations you have in your head, the beliefs you carry around. All of it is seen by Him, and all of it is part of how we honor Him.

Your thoughts do not just stay in your mind. They shape the way you see the world, the way you treat people, and the way you live your life. Paul said it like this in Philippians 4:8. "Finally brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any moral excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy, dwell on these things."

That is a tall order, especially when your mind feels like a battlefield. But God does not just give us a command. He gives us a filter. If a thought is not true, honorable, just, pure, or praiseworthy, it does not belong. And we have the ability, through the power of the Spirit, to reject those thoughts and replace them with what is right.

If your thought life has been running wild lately, today is a great day to bring it back under God's authority. Ask Him to help you take every thought captive and fix your mind on the things that glorify Him. Because when your mind is healthy, everything else begins to follow.

What a beautiful message. My sister shared with me this morning and its such a perfect message of what we all should be practicing and asking the Lord for each day. In my own prayers I ask that the Lord give us clarity and discernment so that all we do should be in his honor and name and through him but this reminds us to pray for even our thoughts and that is such an awesome truth I had not contemplated so I thank you for sharing.
