The Culture of the Kingdom

“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” - Romans 12:2

Jesus didn’t just come to save your soul. He came to reshape your entire life. That includes your identity, your mindset, and your way of living. In other words, Jesus calls us not only to know who we are in Him, but to live differently because of Him.

That is exactly what He taught on the side of a mountain overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Imagine that moment. Thousands of people gathered below, leaning in as Jesus sat down and began to teach. The sun reflecting off the water, the hill carrying His voice like an amphitheater. No microphones. No screens. Just the Son of God, speaking with authority about how we ought to live as citizens of His Kingdom.

We call that message the Sermon on the Mount. It’s found in Matthew 5 through 7, and it flips the world’s values on their head. In a world that praises pride, Jesus blesses the humble. In a culture that says chase comfort, He calls us to hunger for righteousness. He describes a life that doesn’t conform to the world, but one that’s transformed by God’s Word and God’s ways.

That is the Kingdom Culture Jesus came to establish. And it’s still the call today. Romans 12:2 reminds us that we’re not supposed to blend in with the world around us. God’s design is that our minds would be renewed so that our lives reflect His will, not the world’s opinions.

Let that challenge you today. Are you living in step with the Kingdom or just going along with the crowd? Is your mindset shaped more by culture or by Christ? If the life you’re building looks just like everyone else’s, it might be time to ask what kingdom you’re really following.

The Kingdom of God doesn’t start with laws and rules. It starts with listening to Jesus. Let His Word shape how you think, how you live, and who you become. Because when His voice leads, the world will notice a difference.
