Don't Settle for the Ground
“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles” - Isaiah 40:31
Jesus didn’t call you to blend in. He didn’t rescue you just to get comfortable. He called you to live different. To live holy, to live bold, and to live with purpose in a dark and broken world.
There’s a story about a duck who broke his wing on the way south for the winter. A kind farmer brought him home, and over time, the duck recovered. The kids fed him table scraps, treated him like a pet, and he grew comfortable living a grounded life. Even when the flocks returned the next year, he didn’t have the strength to fly. The year after that, he was healthy enough, but he had been fed so much, he was too heavy to take off. By the third year, he didn’t even look up when the other ducks flew overhead. He had lost all desire to live the way he was created to.
Too many believers end up the same way. You get wounded, worn out, maybe burned out. God starts to heal you. But then comfort creeps in. You stop stretching your faith. You get used to safety. You stop looking up. And slowly, you forget that you were made for more than this world.
Jesus opened His sermon on the mount by calling us out. He drew a clear line between the culture of this world and the Kingdom He’s invited us into. He said we are the salt of the earth. We are the light of the world. And our lives are meant to make an eternal impact on the people around us.
That only happens when you stop settling. When you stop living safe and start living sent. When you stop playing with the kids in the yard and remember that you were made to fly. God did not create you for the comfort of the world. He saved you to soar. He healed you so you would go. So live bright and don’t forget what you were made for!
