The New Seat Comes with a New Life

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come" – 2 Corinthians 5:17

When Jesus saves you, He does not just adjust your direction. He completely transforms your destination. More than that, He changes you from the inside out. He changes your mind, your heart, your desires, and your actions. That is not just behavior change. That is new life.

This new life comes with a new seat. No longer are you stuck in the old patterns of the world, chasing recognition, applause, or self-promotion. That old chair was about you. But the new chair is all about Him. In this chair, your heart has been rewritten. Now you desire things that please God, not things that puff you up. You live to honor Him, not impress others.

This is the chair where God’s word becomes your guide. His Spirit leads you, His truth shapes you, and His mission defines you. You give generously, pray sincerely, and serve others faithfully, not because it looks good but because it is who you are. You have been changed. You no longer fit in the world the way you used to, and that is a good thing. That means the gospel is working in your life.

Jesus made this clear. Following Him is not just about saying the right things. It is about living a changed life. The people He spoke to had followed culture for so long, they needed to hear that His way would not look the same. If we claim to follow Jesus, our lives should reflect it. You cannot sit in the new seat and still live like you are in the old one.

Today, take a moment to evaluate what chair you are really sitting in. Are you living a life shaped by the Spirit, focused on building His Kingdom? Or have old habits and old priorities crept back in? When Jesus changes your heart, He changes your how. How you see, how you live, how you love. And that is the kind of change the world needs to see.
