Bought at a Price

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.” – Ephesians 1:7

The word “redeemed” is not one we use often today, but it carries a powerful meaning. To redeem something is to buy it back, to pay a price that restores what was once lost. That is exactly what Jesus did for us. He did not just pay our debt, He bought our freedom.

Before Christ, we were slaves to sin. We were bound by guilt, shame, and a past we could not erase. There was no amount of effort, religion, or good deeds that could free us. But Jesus stepped into our place and paid the price that we never could. His blood became the payment that secured our forgiveness and restored our relationship with God.

Redemption is not about improving what is broken. It is about being completely made new. When Jesus redeemed you, He erased the record of your sin and gave you a new identity. The chains that once held you no longer define you. Your value is no longer measured by what you have done, but by what He has done for you.

The cross is proof of what you are worth to God. He looked at your life, saw your need, and decided that you were worth the price of His Son. That is how much He loves you. You were not bought out of pity, but out of purpose. Jesus redeemed you so that you could live free from the weight of sin and walk in the joy of being forgiven.

You do not have to carry what Jesus already paid for. You do not have to keep proving your worth. The price has been paid in full. Live today as someone who has been set free. Let gratitude replace guilt and worship replace worry.

You are redeemed. Your past is erased, your chains are broken, and your life now reflects the grace of the One who bought you with His blood.
