Commissioning For Truth

"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." - Matthew 28:19–20

Jesus' Great Commission reminds us that truth is meant to be shared. We've been blessed to receive God's truth not just for our own benefit but so we can pass it on to others. This is both our privilege and our responsibility.

The command to "make disciples" involves more than just sharing information; it requires helping others become followers of Jesus who know and live His truth. This happens through teaching, modeling, encouraging, and supporting others in their spiritual growth. We're called to reproduce in others what God has done in us.

"Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded" emphasizes the comprehensive nature of discipleship. It's not enough to teach biblical facts; we must help others learn to live by biblical truth. This requires patience, wisdom, and long-term commitment to others' spiritual development.

Notice that this commission comes with a promise: "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." We don't fulfill this mission in our own strength but with Christ's presence and power. He who commands also enables.

We've learned about the foundation of truth, how to apply it personally, how it affects relationships, and how to share it with others. Now we're commissioned to use what we've learned to help others discover and walk in truth.

The mission field is all around us: our families, neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities. Every day presents opportunities to share truth through our words and actions, to make disciples through our relationships and influence.

Let's embrace our calling as truth-bearers and disciple-makers. Let's use every opportunity to share the life-changing truth we've received and to help others discover the joy and freedom of walking in God's truth.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the privilege of knowing Your truth and the responsibility of sharing it with others. Help us to be faithful disciples who make disciples. Give us opportunities to share Your truth and wisdom to do it effectively. May Your truth continue to spread through our lives and ministry. We go in Your strength and for Your glory. Amen.
