What If Easter Never Happened?
Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve talked about Easter and all that led up to it. The first week we talked about how we broke it – “it” being our relationship with God. Then last week we talked about how Jesus fixed it and restored our relationship with the Father through His sacrifice on the cross. But today, I want you to ask yourself a question. What if the story was: God created it...we broke it...and Jesus didn’t fix it? What if Jesus didn’t do what He said He would do? What if there were still bones in His tomb and Jesus didn’t rise from the grave? What if Easter never happened? Well, the answer to that question is found in the 15th chapter of 1 Corinthians, beginning in verse 13 where we hear Paul raising this same question. “If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised and if Christ has been raised ...” Then he goes on and gives us seven consequences for us if Jesus’ body was decomposing in a tomb. Let’s look at those seven consequences now.
