The Appointment You Cannot Skip

"And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment." – Hebrews 9:27

We all have moments on the calendar that we wish we could skip. Maybe it is a tough conversation you are dreading or a doctor’s appointment you would rather avoid. Maybe it is a deadline you have been procrastinating on or an exam you wish would just disappear.

I once talked with a high school student who was panicking over his final exams. He had put off studying all semester, and now the tests were only days away. His face said it all. He was desperate for a way out. He even joked about pulling the fire alarm or getting “sick” just to avoid it. To him, skipping the test felt easier than facing the reality of not being prepared.

Many people approach God the same way. Deep down, they know judgment is coming, but they push it out of their minds. They hope that if they avoid thinking about it, maybe they will never have to face it. But the truth is clear. Hebrews 9:27 says it plainly. We all have an appointment with God, and we cannot skip it.

Here is the good news. For those who are saved and forgiven through Christ, that day will not be one of fear but of salvation and joy. Hebrews 9:28 says that Jesus will return, not to bear sin again, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.

So the question for you today is, are you ready for that day? Are you living like someone who is waiting for Jesus, or are you trying to push the thought of Him aside?

You do not have to live in fear of judgment. You can live with peace today by surrendering to Jesus and trusting in His forgiveness. Stop putting it off. Stop pretending you can avoid it. The most important preparation you will ever make is not for a test or a deadline, but for the day you stand before God.

Let today be the day you stop running. Let today be the day you say yes to the One who gave everything for you.
