Expect the Attack
“And we prayed to our God and set a guard as a protection against them day and night.” - Nehemiah 4:9
Pursuing God’s vision will not be easy. If you’ve ever stepped out in faith, you already know that. The moment you say yes to God, the enemy starts drawing up his plan to stop you. That is not a coincidence. That is spiritual resistance.
Nehemiah faced it every step of the way. The moment he began rebuilding what had been broken, his enemies started scheming. They mocked the work, questioned the plan, threatened the people, and even tried to take Nehemiah down personally. But Nehemiah never stopped. He just prayed harder, planned smarter, and pushed forward with purpose.
You should expect the same. If you are following God’s call, whether it’s leading your family with conviction, starting something new, or restoring something broken, you will be opposed. You’ll feel it in your circumstances. You’ll hear it in your thoughts. You might even see it in the people around you. The enemy’s goal is to distract you, discourage you, and ultimately stop the work God has started in your life.
But don’t forget Nehemiah’s example. He did not quit when the pressure hit. He doubled down. He told the people to keep one hand on the shovel and one hand on the spear. In other words, stay focused and stay ready. Do not let fear take you off the wall God has called you to build.
If God is in it, the enemy will try to prevent it. But he cannot stop it, unless you let him. When resistance comes, let it remind you you’re on the right path. Let it push you closer to prayer, deeper into dependence, and forward in faith.
The opposition will come. But so will the victory. Just keep building.
