A Sacred Space Within

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God?” - 1 Corinthians 6:19

If you are truly saved, you need to know that your body isn’t just flesh and bones anymore. It is occupied by God Himself. That truth might sound unbelievable, but it is straight from Scripture. The Holy Spirit, the very presence of God, lives in you. You don’t have to go to a temple to experience His presence. You are the temple.

How does that happen? How does a person go from being spiritually dead to being filled with the Spirit of the living God?

The Bible says that when you hear the gospel and genuinely believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit seals you. Ephesians 1:13 tells us this seal is like God’s signature, His mark of ownership. From that moment forward, He doesn’t just walk with you, He lives in you.

Romans 8:9 says if you belong to Christ, the Spirit of God lives in you. That’s not just a poetic thought. That’s a reality that should shape everything about how you live. Because not only does the Spirit seal you, but He also guides you. John 16:13 says He leads us into all truth. And He equips you too. First Corinthians 12 shows us that every believer receives spiritual gifts. Why? So we can build up the Church and help fulfill the mission God gave us.

But here’s something that might surprise you. When Paul says your body is a temple, the word he uses doesn’t refer to the entire temple complex. It refers to the innermost part. The Holy of Holies. The place where God’s glory once rested in the Old Testament. That’s the space your life has become.

God doesn’t just visit you on Sundays. He has taken up residence. He has made your body His sacred space. That is why we must honor Him with it. Guard it. Steward it. Live like someone carrying the presence of the Almighty God. Because you are.
