More Than with You

“God wanted to make known among the Gentiles the glorious wealth of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” - Colossians 1:27

When Paul writes that Christ is in you, he is revealing something that had never been clearly understood before. For generations, the presence of God was confined to places. It was in the burning bush, the tabernacle, the holy of holies in the temple. Even devout believers could only approach God through rituals and sacrifices, and only the high priest could enter the deepest place of His presence. But now, Paul says, something radical has changed. Christ no longer dwells in a place. He dwells in a person. He lives in you.

This mystery had been hidden, but now it has been made known. Christ is not just above you, leading from a distance. He is not just beside you, walking as a companion. He is within you, living in your heart by faith. The very presence of God that once shook mountains now resides in the life of every believer. That means you are never without access, never without help, and never without hope.

Paul was in prison when he wrote these words. He had been beaten, abandoned, and falsely accused. But he did not write like someone who had lost his joy. He wrote like someone who carried the presence of God in his soul. When he said he rejoiced in suffering, it was not because suffering felt good. It was because he had something inside of him that suffering could not take away. Christ in you is not a slogan. It is strength for the storm. It is peace in the prison. It is courage in the crisis.

If Jesus lives in you, then no matter where you are or what you face, you have the presence of God right there with you. And not just with you. In you. That is the mystery that changed everything. That is the hope that will never fail.
