You Don’t Have to Fake the Christian Life

“I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20

Trying to look like a good Christian can be exhausting. You say the right things, show up when expected, and keep moving even when your heart feels tired. On the outside, things look fine. Inside, it can feel like you are pretending, forcing faith instead of actually living it.

That exhaustion usually comes from one simple mistake. You are trying to live for Christ instead of living from Christ. Those two things sound similar, but they are very different. Living for Christ puts the pressure on you to perform. Living from Christ starts with what He is already doing within you.

Paul describes the Christian life in a way that removes the pressure. He does not say Christ is just an example to follow. He says Christ lives in him. That means the Christian life is not powered by willpower or discipline alone. It is fueled by presence. The same Jesus who saved you now lives within you, shaping your desires and strengthening your obedience from the inside out.

Faking faith usually happens when we forget this. We rely on habits without heart. We repeat routines without connection. Over time, that creates burnout instead of joy. God never asked you to manufacture spiritual life. He gave you His own.

Living from Christ means honesty replaces performance. Weakness is no longer something to hide. Struggle becomes an invitation to depend, not a reason to pretend. Growth still happens, but it flows naturally because life is present at the root.

Some days will still feel hard. Faith will still require obedience. But the source changes everything. You are not pushing yourself to act spiritual. You are learning to trust the Christ who already lives in you. That shift brings relief to tired hearts.

If you have been worn down by trying to keep it together, pause and breathe. You were never meant to fake the Christian life. You were meant to live it from the inside out. Christ in you is not a concept. It is a reality that changes how you walk, how you grow, and how you rest. Stop performing. Start depending. The life you are trying to live is already living within you.
