Wisdom’s Call
"Wisdom calls out in the street; she raises her voice in the public squares." - Proverbs 1:20
Wisdom isn't hiding from us. She's not locked away in ivory towers or available only to a select few. According to this verse, wisdom is actively calling out, seeking our attention in the most common places where people gather. She's in the streets, the public squares, wherever life happens.
This personification of wisdom as a woman calling out reveals something beautiful about God's heart. He doesn't want to keep wisdom to Himself. Instead, He actively pursues us with His truth and understanding. Just as a loving parent calls out to guide their child away from danger, wisdom calls out to guide us away from foolish decisions that would harm us.
Consider how this applies to the back-to-school season. Wisdom calls out in the hallways of schools, in the decisions students make about friendships, in the choices about how to spend time and energy. She calls out to parents making decisions about their children's education and extracurricular activities. She calls out to teachers preparing lessons and building relationships with students.
The tragedy is that many people walk right past wisdom's call. They're too busy, too distracted, or too proud to stop and listen. They mistake the volume of the world's noise for the voice of truth. But wisdom continues to call, patient and persistent, because God loves us too much to let us stumble in darkness when light is available.
As stewards of our lives and purposes, we must train our ears to hear wisdom's voice above the competing sounds of our culture. This requires intentionality and practice. We must create space in our lives to listen, to reflect, and to respond to what God is teaching us through His Word and His Spirit.

Lord, thank you for making wisdom available to me in any moment at any time. Help me hear the call of your voice towards wisdom so that I can honor you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
