THE NARROW DOOR

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” – Matthew 7:13-14

Isn’t it amazing how the message of the gospel has echoed through the ages with unwavering clarity? Take a trip with me back to the book of Genesis, where we find ourselves in the midst of Noah and the Ark—a story deeply woven into the fabric of biblical history.

Noah, a man who found ‘favor’ with God, was chosen to navigate a world submerged in a flood of destruction. What often escapes our notice is the symbolic imagery present in the Ark itself. The Ark, in this ancient tale, becomes a poignant foreshadowing of Jesus.

Picture this: the Ark, a vessel of salvation, mirroring the grace offered through Christ. As Noah and his family entered the Ark, they found themselves standing before a single door—a solitary entrance into their salvation. It’s a powerful reminder that, just as Noah’s family was saved through grace, so too are we. Grace provided the door to salvation.

Now, let’s delve into the concept of this door. Jesus, the embodiment of grace, stands as the narrow gate for our salvation. In Matthew 7:13-14, Jesus Himself declares, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

Here, Jesus paints a vivid picture of the path to life—narrow, and yet profound. The narrowness isn’t about exclusion; it’s about focus and clarity. The door to salvation, represented by Jesus, is intentionally narrow. It invites us to embrace a unique journey, one that leads to life abundant.

Here’s the beauty of it all: in a world filled with options, Jesus remains the narrow gate—the exclusive passage to eternal life. The Ark had one door, and Jesus, the embodiment of grace, stood as the singular door to salvation. As you journey through life, may you find comfort and assurance in entering through that narrow gate, for it leads to life everlasting.
