ESCAPE THE DARKNESS

September 18, 2022

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.” – 1 Corinthians 10:13

As we discussed yesterday, Psalm 88 gives us a description of what Jesus cries out to the Father on the night before He would be crucified. Jesus was taken to the house of Caiaphas, the High Priest, on the night He was arrested. There, He spent the night in a dark pit as He awaited trial and what would ultimately be His crucifixion.

That night, Jesus endured the dark pit alone. But He endured that darkness so that we can escape it. When Jesus died for you and me, He died so that darkness would no longer control us. Though we are human beings, and sin is inevitable, we do not have to be controlled by it. We do not have to give in to the temptations that rear their ugly heads in our lives!

1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.”
Jesus came so that we could live, and live more abundantly. An abundant life is not one trapped by darkness. God never intended for you to live a life in shackles. He does not want you handcuffed, imprisoned to your sin, or the things of this world.

Are you struggling with darkness? Have the temptations you face constantly been getting the better of you? Do you often find yourself discouraged because of the darkness you live in? God wants you to be free from all darkness! God cannot stand the darkness! He wants you to step into the light.

No matter who you are or what you are going through, no darkness you find yourself in can drown out the light of Christ! Turn to Him and let Him bring you where you were meant to be — in His light!
