A WALK OF HUMILITY

May 4, 2023

“As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” – Ephesians 4:1-2

If you want to live for Jesus, you are going to have to walk a new walk. The walk of Jesus is different from the walk of the world. How so? Paul answers this question in Ephesians 4:1-2 when he says, “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

How is the walk of Christ different? For starters, it’s a walk of humility. Paul instructs us here to “be completely humble.” As you walk through this life following Jesus, you won’t have all the answers.

Even if you are obedient to Him, it does not mean that you have it all figured out. And the second you think you do, you give the devil a foothold to come in and attack you. Jesus hates pride.

Do you want to walk the walk of Christ? Do you want to live like Jesus? It starts with humility. You can’t live in pride and live for Jesus; it just doesn’t work that way. Everything you have, you have because of Him.

Jesus is the one that blesses us not only with the material possessions we own, but with the gifts, talents, and abilities to accumulate material possessions. The reality is, we have nothing to be prideful about.

Everything we have is from Him. If you are going to walk this new walk, the walk of Christ, leave your pride at the door. You can’t bring it with you. Jesus is calling you to walk with humility.
