PREACH THE GOSPEL

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20
Over the last five days, we have looked at the “ingredients” of good teams. As a church, we want to use these ingredients to build and become the ultimate team. But for what purpose?
Well, the purpose is the one Jesus gave to us just before He returned to heaven. Most people now know this as the Great Commission. Jesus says in Matthew 28:19-20,
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Here, Jesus specifically gives us three instructions: preach the gospel, baptize new believers, and then disciple those believers. That is the Great Commission, and that is our job as the church. We talked about accomplishing a mission. The Great Commission is our MISSION.
And that starts with preaching the gospel. There will be a day when every single person stands before Almighty God and must be held accountable for their life and the decisions they made. Ultimately, they will be asked, did they trust and give their life to God, or did they not?
As a church, it is our job to preach this message to as many people as possible. Because for those who did not choose Jesus, we will also be responsible. Did we have the opportunity to share with them? Did we share with them?
If not, why? Were we worried about it being “awkward?” Listen, at the end of time, what was “awkward” or “weird” won’t matter. All that will matter is heaven and hell. That might sound frank, but it’s the truth.
As a church, we must preach this truth. We must be diligent in preaching the gospel!
