THE POWER OF GOD

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” – Romans 15:13
When you give your life to Christ, you are a new person. You experience a “new birth” in Christ. And that new birth means you now have the NATURE of God, the SPIRIT of God, the PRESENCE of God, and the POWER of God inside of you.
We have already looked at the first three, so if you have missed the last three devotionals, I would encourage you to go back and read them. But today I want to shift your attention to what it means to have the power of God within you. Romans 15:13 says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
This hope Paul is speaking of isn’t just based on a power that is somewhere out there. As we have learned, the Holy Spirit resides in us once we have given our life to Christ. This means we have the power of God INSIDE of us.
The same power that parted the Red Sea, that raised the dead to life, that made the lame walk, and the sick healthy, is inside of you. You have access to the power of God. Unfortunately, many never experience that power because they do not truly believe it is in them.
As children of God, we have perks that others do not experience. Many think that giving your life to Christ is all about sacrifice. And though you might have to sacrifice, that is not the entirety of being a Christian.
God gives us His nature, His Spirit, His presence, and His POWER. That power is in you. Do you want things to turn around in your life? Do you want to make a real difference in the world? Do you want to do something that hasn’t been done before? The same power that you read about all throughout Scripture is inside of you.
What are you going to do with the power of God on your side?
