A New Way of Seeing and Responding

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” - Galatians 5:22-23

When you put on Christ, it’s more than a change in behavior, it’s a transformation of your entire being. This isn’t about adopting new habits or following a set of rules, it’s about experiencing a profound change within that shifts the way you see and interact with the world.
Imagine how it feels when you truly allow God to transform your life. You begin to see people through Jesus’ eyes. This shift isn’t merely about acting differently; it’s about becoming different at the core.

When God changes your heart, generosity replaces stinginess, care replaces indifference, and kindness replaces harshness. These aren’t natural changes, they are supernatural, made possible only through the power of the Holy Spirit.

We see this in the story of the Good Samaritan. A Sunday school teacher once described this parable to her class, vividly portraying the scene of a man beaten and left for dead. When asked how they would respond if they saw someone in such a dire situation, one thoughtful little girl responded, “I think… I’d throw up.” Her reaction was honest, perhaps reflecting how overwhelming and unsettling the reality of such suffering can be.

We all like to think we’d be like the Good Samaritan, responding with kindness and mercy. But the truth is, genuine kindness often requires a deep and uncomfortable change within us. It’s not just about what we do in a moment of crisis, it’s about how we live every day.

Jesus calls us to more than just a theoretical understanding of kindness. He invites us to embody it in our daily lives, transforming our reactions and interactions. As you walk in the Spirit and put on the clothes of righteousness, your responses will shift from being driven by natural inclinations to being guided by supernatural love and grace.

How has Jesus changed your perspective and your response to the needs around you? Are you seeing and acting differently because of the transformation He’s made in your heart? Embrace this change and let the supernatural kindness of God flow through you. It’s not just about what you do, it’s about who you are becoming in Christ.
