A Joyful Life

"I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." - John 10:10

Let’s get one thing straight, it’s okay to have fun at church! In fact, it’s actually more than okay, it’s essential, because you are the Church. And a Church full of joy? That’s exactly what God intended. The life He’s given us is meant to be full, not just to survive but to thrive with joy and purpose. As John 1:4 says, “In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.” This isn’t just any life, it’s abundant life, a life that overflows with meaning and joy, all through Jesus.

God didn’t send His Son so that you could barely get by. He didn’t want you stuck in a life where you’re just enduring each day. Jesus came so you could experience life to the fullest, a life rich with moments of joy, love, purpose, and peace. So, when God gave us Jesus, He gave us more than just the gift of salvation; He gave us the gift of true joy, a joy that is meant to light up your life.

But maybe right now, you don’t feel joyful. Maybe you’re thinking, “If Jesus came to bring me joy, then why don’t I feel it?” Life gets heavy, challenges pile up, and joy can feel like something we’re chasing instead of something we hold. But this brings us to an important question: where does your joy come from?

It’s so easy to let our joy hinge on the ups and downs of life, on circumstances that change and shift. Maybe you’ve been putting your hope in things that feel exciting or fun for a moment but don’t last. But God’s joy is different, it’s constant and available no matter what’s happening around you because it’s found in Him. The source of true joy is Jesus Himself. He is the One who fills our lives with purpose and peace, even when circumstances aren’t perfect.

As you go through this season, remember that God’s gift of joy is something you can access right now. It’s found in knowing Jesus, in letting Him be the center of your life.

He came so you could experience joy, even here, even now, and that’s worth celebrating. Let your heart open up to the abundant life He offers, and let joy come alive within you!
