A Burden for the Lost

"The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." – Matthew 9:37-38

The book of Revelation is a vivid reminder of the reality of eternity. It paints a picture of what’s to come, and as you read it, the weight of that reality can’t help but stir something in your heart. For those of us who know Jesus, it’s a hope-filled promise of eternal life. But what about those who don’t? The thought of someone you care about facing eternity without Christ should move you deeply.

Do you have a burden for those in your life who don’t know Him? Maybe it’s a family member, a friend, a coworker, or a neighbor. It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and forget the magnitude of what’s at stake. But Revelation pulls back the curtain on eternity and makes it clear: the consequences of rejecting Christ are eternal. This isn’t something we can afford to ignore or put off.

If you know someone who doesn’t know Jesus, now is the time to speak. Don’t let fear or hesitation hold you back. Eternity is too important to sit by and say nothing. Pray for opportunities to share your faith, for courage to speak up, and for the Holy Spirit to soften their hearts. Your words might be the seed that God uses to bring them to salvation.

Having a burden for the lost means living with intentionality. It means seeing people not just as they are today but as souls that God loves and desires to save. It’s about letting the reality of eternity shape how you interact with them, how you pray for them, and how you love them.

Who in your life needs to hear about Jesus? Let Revelation remind you that time is short, and the harvest is plentiful. Be the laborer who steps into the field, willing to share the hope you’ve found in Christ. The stakes are eternal, and the opportunity to make a difference is now. Will you take it?
