Unveiling the Word

“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.” - Revelation 1:3

Have you ever wondered why praying can feel so hard? Your mind wanders, you get distracted, and suddenly, you’ve lost track of what you were saying. Or maybe reading the Bible feels like a challenge—your eyelids get heavy, or you can’t seem to focus, or the words don’t make sense. It’s easy to get frustrated, but I want you to know those distractions are not from God. They’re from the devil. God wants you to understand His Word, but the enemy does everything he can to keep you from it.

As we continue our journey through the book of Revelation, it’s important to recognize that God’s goal isn’t for you to be confused or lost in the symbols and imagery. He wants to make Himself known to you. In fact, the very word “Revelation” means the removal of a veil, a revealing of something that was once hidden. The Greek word for Revelation, Apokalypsis, means "to unveil" or "to uncover."

Think about the last time you saw something unveiled: a star’s plaque on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the latest iPhone, or even a concept car. There’s a sense of excitement, anticipation, and clarity when something is revealed to us.

God’s desire is that you would experience that same excitement and understanding when you open the book of Revelation. This book isn’t meant to confuse you. It’s meant to open your eyes to the greatness of God, to reveal what He is doing in the world, and how you are part of His plan.

If you’ve ever struggled to understand Revelation or any part of God’s Word, remember that God is ready and willing to help you. He doesn’t want to leave you in the dark. But the enemy will try to keep you distracted, confused, or indifferent, so you don’t fully grasp the truth that’s waiting for you. But today, ask God to remove any veil that’s preventing you from seeing clearly and trust that He will reveal Himself to you in a way that brings life, hope, and understanding.
