Do You Have a Ticket?

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God." - Ephesians 2:8

If you’ve ever traveled by airplane, you know the boarding process can be a spectacle. It used to be simple. Everyone with a ticket got on the plane. But now, it’s all about status. First, they call active military and people needing assistance. Then, families with small kids. Then the classes: first class, business class, comfort plus. And let’s not forget the loyalty medallions: diamond, platinum, gold. After all that, the final announcement comes: “All remaining passengers may now board.”

The whole process takes time, and in the end, some people are sipping drinks in spacious seats, while others are crammed in the middle, fighting for an armrest. But here’s what I’ve noticed—no matter what kind of seat someone has, everyone with a ticket gets on the same plane, heading in the same direction, arriving at the same destination.

Sometimes, we treat faith like airline boarding. We make it seem like some people are on a different level because they’ve been in church longer, pray with fancier words, or sin less visibly. It’s easy to believe that spiritual “status” determines who’s closer to God. But Ephesians 2:8 makes it clear. Salvation isn’t about what we’ve done or how good we’ve been. It’s a gift. The only question that matters is: Do you have a ticket?

That ticket isn’t earned. It’s not based on how long you’ve been a Christian, how much Bible you’ve memorized, or how well you perform. It’s not about first-class Christianity or an upgraded seat in heaven. The ticket is Jesus. If you’ve placed your faith in Him, you’re on the plane. You’re heading to the same destination as everyone else who’s been saved by grace.

So don’t get caught up in comparisons. Don’t look around the church wondering who has the better seat. Instead, be grateful that God made a way for you to be on the flight at all. If you’ve got your ticket, you’re exactly where you need to be.
