Be a Person of Action
"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." – James 1:22
Everyone loves to talk about what they’re going to do. People make big plans, set goals, and announce their intentions. But how many actually follow through? How many take real steps toward what they say they will do?
God isn’t impressed with words, He’s looking for action. James 1:22 makes it clear that hearing the Word isn’t enough. Knowing the right thing to do, talking about it, or even having good intentions doesn’t mean anything if you don’t actually do it. If you only talk but never act, you’re just deceiving yourself.
Think about Jesus. He didn’t just talk about love, He showed it. He didn’t just say He came to serve. He actually served. He didn’t just preach about sacrifice, He gave His life. His actions proved everything. And that’s the example we’re called to follow.
Being a person of action means doing what you say you will do. It means keeping your word, showing up, and following through, even when it’s inconvenient. But sometimes, it also means not saying anything at all, just doing what needs to be done without seeking attention or approval. You don’t have to announce every good thing you plan to do. Just do it. Let your actions speak for themselves.
The world is full of people who talk a big game but don’t back it up. If you want to stand out, be different. Be someone who doesn’t just make promises but fulfills them. Be someone who doesn’t just say they’ll pray but actually prays. Be someone who doesn’t just talk about making an impact but takes real steps to do it.
God isn’t calling you to be a person of lip service. He’s calling you to be a person of movement. So stop talking about the things you should do and start doing them. Because, at the end of the day, actions will always speak louder than words.
