The Impact of a Godly Influence

"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." – Proverbs 22:6

Growing up, one of the most valuable lessons I ever learned was, “Give credit where credit is due.” And one of the main reasons I am who I am today is because God blessed me with a godly mom. She led me to the Lord on a park bench when I was just a little boy. She made sure I was in church, constantly teaching me God’s Word and showing me what it meant to live for Him.

But she didn’t just teach me about God. She taught me how to load a dishwasher, how to make my bed, how to brush my teeth, and even how to use a napkin instead of my sleeve. Those little things may seem simple, but they were all part of her pouring into my life. She was a home builder.

The Bible is filled with examples of women who were home builders. Hannah prayed for Samuel and dedicated him to the Lord. Mary raised Jesus as a boy, nurturing Him and caring for Him as He grew. Jochabed, the mother of Moses, trusted God with her son’s life and released him down the Nile, believing God had a purpose for him. Eunice taught Timothy the Word of God, planting seeds of truth that would grow into a powerful ministry.

What did all of these women have in common? They built their homes on a foundation of faith. They were intentional about pointing their children to God, living out their faith in a way that left a lasting impact. They understood that their influence could either build up or tear down, and they chose to build.

Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” The seeds you plant today have the power to grow into something that changes the world tomorrow.

Whether you’re raising children of your own, mentoring others, or simply pouring into the lives of those around you, never underestimate the impact of living out your faith with intention. Be a home builder. Because the foundation you lay today will echo for generations to come.
