Living in the Peace of Christ
"And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful." - Colossians 3:15
If you belong to Jesus, then His peace should rule your heart. That’s what this verse is saying. But what about those moments when you don’t feel peace? What if you love the Lord and are trying to follow Him, but you still feel anxious or unsettled?
Before you start questioning your salvation, understand that the peace of Christ is different from the peace this world offers. Jesus made that clear when He said, “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.”
The world’s peace is based on circumstances. It’s temporary and fragile. But the peace Jesus gives is something much deeper. It’s a spiritual peace that remains even when life gets hard. It’s not the absence of trouble. It’s the presence of Jesus guiding you through it.
When this verse talks about the peace of Christ ruling your heart, the word “ruling” is like an umpire or referee. It means Jesus is the one calling the shots in your life. Just like an umpire makes the final call on the baseball field, Jesus has the final say over your life. He decides what matters and what doesn’t.
So when you’re faced with situations that would normally steal your peace, you have a choice. You can either try to handle things on your own or you can let the peace of Christ call the shots. You can let Him be the umpire of your heart.
And when you do that, you can rest in the fact that God’s got this. You can have peace that goes beyond what makes sense. You can have peace that remains even when life feels like it’s falling apart.
The question is, are you letting Jesus be the umpire of your heart? Are you letting His peace rule over your thoughts, your decisions, and your worries? Take a moment to reflect on that today and thank Him for the peace that only He can give.
