Love’s Unfailing Resurrection

"Love never fails." - 1 Corinthians 13:8

Some things fade—the bouquet on the table, accolades, excitement, strength. But Paul’s bold claim at the heart of the “Love Chapter” is stunning: Love never fails. Resurrection is not just an event; it’s the persistent rising of love where hope, patience, and self-sacrifice seem worn thin.

Jesus’ resurrection is the ultimate proof that love outlasts hate, pain, disappointment, and even death. The kind of love that can absorb betrayal, forgive an enemy, and restore the lost is only possible because Jesus rose and poured His Spirit into us.

Love is the heartbeat of resurrection life, and Paul’s assurance that “love never fails” sprouts from this truth. The resurrection shows us that even at love’s lowest point—on the cross, when hope seemed dead—God was working resurrection. Christ’s victory transforms our understanding of what love can endure. Far from being sentimental, resurrection love is rugged and relentless, carrying us into situations where we cannot see a quick return or easy solution, yet empowering us to love anyway. This is not our own strength but new life at work, planting seeds of hope and reconciliation in the most barren soil.

The new life Christ offers is marked most not by religious achievement, but by love that keeps choosing to rise, even when it would be easier to quit.

I used to believe love was mostly a feeling—effortless when times are good, disappearing when conflict arises. But nothing stretched me like years of loving a difficult family member. It was excruciating, sometimes thankless, and often seemed pointless. Yet, I learned to pray, “God, give me resurrection love for this person, when I can’t find it on my own.”

With time, my heart softened. Our relationship changed—slowly—with little acts of grace. Love didn’t “win” overnight. But it refused to give up. That’s resurrection power.

Today, let the call to love become intentional in your life. Think of someone you find hard to love and take a step to show them unexpected kindness this week—a note, a favor, or a kind word. Each day, quietly ask God to soften your heart, especially where it resists or carries old wounds. And whenever you feel your love is failing, remember Christ’s empty tomb and speak this truth over your spirit: Love never fails, because Christ is alive.

Risen Jesus, Your love for me didn’t waver—even in the darkness of the cross. I need Your unfailing love to shape my heart. Breathe resurrected love into the places I want to give up or walk away. Teach me to keep showing up, keep forgiving, keep hoping, because Your Spirit lives in me. Make my life a testimony to the world that Your love does not fail. Amen.
