HOPING NOT COPING

“And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.” – Romans 5:5

As we continue to look at the reasons we should persevere through trials, there is something important we should remember. Trials will not only develop our endurance, patience, humility, and character, but there should be real hope that comes from these trials as well.
 
That’s right. When we are in the midst of a trial, we need more hoping and less coping. Believe it or not, I chose that word, “coping,” not just because it rhymed with “hoping,” but because we have a natural tendency to COPE.

Coping is basically defined as, “making the best of the world we’re living in…as if our situation will never improve.” Well, that shouldn’t be the story of the Christian life! God didn’t create you to COPE. He created you to have HOPE, even when your current circumstances are grim.

Romans 5:5 says, “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.”
Don’t miss what God is telling you today. He says that affliction produces endurance. Endurance produces character. Character produces HOPE. This is a promise of God to us as believers!

Do you have HOPE today because of Jesus? You should! Listen, God tells us He will wipe every tear from our eyes. He will punish all His enemies and redeem His people, not losing any of us! He said, “I am always with you. I am always for you. I am in control. And I am always victorious!”
 
Our God is a good God. He loves you, He is with you, and He is for you today. Because our God promises victory, and because our God cannot lie, we should be living our lives in VICTORY with great HOPE today!
