HE PROTECTS HIS SHEEP

August 22, 2022

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and He is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.” – John 10:28-29

As we have seen the last couple of days, the Lord is the Good Shepherd. And what makes a good shepherd? A Good shepherd always protects his flock. That is so true about Jesus! He put Himself in the mouth of the cave in order to protect us from wandering and in order to prevent us from being harmed or snatched away.

In John 10:28 Jesus said, “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of my hand.” Just imagine the righteous right hand of God and Jesus, our Good Shepherd, saying, “I’ll protect you and nobody is going to snatch you away!”

How good is that? I love how Isaiah said it in Isaiah 40:11, “He will feed His flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in His arms, holding them close to His heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.”

Is there anything more encouraging than knowing as one of the Lord’s sheep that you will always be protected? And how can He make this promise? Because He has the power to see it through.

After promising in John 10:28 that “they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me…” Jesus says, “for my Father has given them to me, and He is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.”

When you are one of His sheep, you are guaranteed protection under His will. There is no place the Lord takes you where His will will not sustain you. And the best part is that He has the power to make this promise. When you are one of His sheep, the Shepherd will protect you. That is a promise from the Lord Himself!
