Jesus Will Avenge

“Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’” - Romans 12:19

When we face injustice or hardship, our natural instinct is often to fight back. Whether it’s someone wronging us or an unfair situation, we want to make things right on our own. But in these moments, we need to remember that Jesus, in His infinite power and wisdom, will avenge those who are wronged. He is the ultimate judge.

Revelation 19 speaks of Jesus returning with a sharp, double-edged sword coming from His mouth, a symbol of His power to judge and avenge. This sword represents His authority to execute justice, and it’s a reminder that Jesus is the one who will make all things right in the end.

The Bible clearly teaches that vengeance belongs to God, not to us. In Romans 12, Paul reminds us that when we feel wronged, we must resist the urge to take matters into our own hands. Instead, we are to leave room for God’s judgment. It’s not our job to avenge ourselves. God will repay in His perfect timing.

This truth is hard to grasp, especially when we’re in the heat of the moment. But as followers of Christ, we must trust that God is just and will handle every situation according to His perfect will. When we allow God to take control of the situation, we can find peace knowing that He will deal with our enemies far better than we ever could.

So, when you’re hurt or mistreated, don’t take matters into your own hands. Trust that Jesus sees and knows the situation. Allow Him to be the one who avenges. Your job is to forgive, love, and leave the rest to Him. He will repay, and He will do it in a way that brings ultimate justice, for He is the righteous judge.
