THE CHIEF SHEPHERD

August 26, 2022

“And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.” – 1 Peter 5:4

If Jesus’ redemption makes Him the Good Shepherd, and His resurrection makes Him our Great Shepherd, then it’s His return that makes Him the Chief Shepherd.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd who died for His sheep.

Jesus is the Great Shepherd who lives for His sheep.

Jesus is the Chief Shepherd who returns for His sheep.

Jesus said in John 14:1-3, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with you where I am.”

The future has been solidified by God, and He prepares us for what is coming. The King of Glory is coming! The Chief Shepherd is coming soon, and His name is JESUS! There is coming a day where we will see Him in all His glory. There is coming a day when our enemies will be defeated, our diseases will be cured, and our problems will all be solved.

Here is what we know about sheep. If sheep are left to themselves, they will walk the same trails repeatedly, until they become ruts. They will graze the same hills until they become bare. They will pollute their own ground until it becomes corrupt with disease and parasites.

No other class of livestock requires more careful handling or more guidance and direction than sheep. David understood sheep; he also knew a thing or two about shepherds, and he knew a whole lot about us.”

That is why he pointed to Jesus as our Savior, our Shepherd, and the solution to our greatest problem. Isaiah 56:3 says, “We all went astray like sheep, we all have turned to our own way, and the Lord has punished him for the iniquity of us all.

Celebrate today knowing your shepherd is not only the Good Shepherd, not just the Great Shepherd, but He is the CHIEF Shepherd!
