WALK WORTHY

February 20, 2023

“I therefore, a prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.” – Ephesians 4:1

When God changes your life, He doesn’t usually just change one small part. He redirects your entire course! That is what we learned from Paul in Ephesians. Paul was writing to the believers in Ephesus, showing them that when Christ changes a person’s life, they not only receive a new identity “in Christ,” but they also receive a new goal in life.

Paul shared that goal in Ephesians 4:1 when he told them, “I therefore, a prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.”

I can just imagine these new believers in Ephesus opening up the original scroll of this letter on the day it was delivered and reading those words. “Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.”

They had to be thinking: What does that even mean to “Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called?” How are we supposed to walk this new walk?

But then, as they kept reading, Paul goes on to share with them not only the goal as believers, but he shared with them the HOW TOs of walking this new walk and living a life or “walk” that is “worthy” to which they have been called.

Have you been called by God? Maybe God is in the midst of changing your life right now. And maybe you just don’t feel like you deserve the life God wants to give you. But you know what? It isn’t about what you deserve; it is about the grace and mercy He gives us and our job is simply to fulfill His purpose.

God wants you to walk worthy today. He wants you to walk as though you are worthy of the calling He has placed upon you. Are you walking worthy?
