MOVE IN SILENCE

January 8, 2023

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” – Matthew 6:5-6

Do you want to be blessed by God? Well, God is in the “blessings business.” He loves to bless His children because He loves us and wants to give us what we do not deserve. That is right, a blessing is when you receive something you did not earn. God grants blessings to His people all the time.

So, how can you position yourself to be blessed? Well, one way is to move in silence. We live in a world where everyone wants to show what they have done. Yesterday, we discussed how people love to post #blessed. But what they are really doing is showing off something they achieved or accomplished and just adding #blessed to make it seem humble.

But this is not a humble act at all. And according to God, these people have received all the praise they will ever receive. When you seek public praise, that is all you get. There is no reward from God because you were seeking it from the world.

Matthew 6:5-6 confirms this when it says, “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

If you want to position yourself for a blessing, move in silence. Honor God and obey Him without needing to show everyone you are following Him. When you move in silence, God will take notice, and He will bless you!
