REFLECTING ON OUR DEPENDENCY ON GOD

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” – Matthew 6:33
In our modern world, we are surrounded by a plethora of conveniences and luxuries that previous generations could only dream of. From advanced technology to abundant resources, we have everything we need at our fingertips. Yet, in the midst of this abundance, it is important to pause and reflect on how it has affected our dependency on God.
When we have everything we need, it’s easy to take God’s provision for granted. We become self-sufficient, relying on our own abilities and resources rather than seeking guidance and help from the Almighty. Our schedules are filled with tasks, obligations, and distractions, leaving little room for intentional communion with God. We find ourselves caught up in the pursuit of material possessions and worldly success, neglecting the spiritual nourishment that only God can provide.
However, it is crucial to remember that the luxuries we now enjoy were not always accessible to everyone. Throughout history, many people lived in poverty, lacked basic necessities, and struggled to survive. Even today, countless individuals face daily hardships and have unmet needs. In recognizing this reality, we should develop a heart of gratitude for the blessings we have received.
Our dependency on God should not be contingent on our circumstances. Regardless of whether we have plenty or little, our reliance on God should remain constant. He is the source of all good things, and it is through His grace that we are able to obtain and enjoy them. The abundance we possess should be seen as a tool to bless others and glorify God, rather than a means to isolate ourselves from Him.
As followers of Christ, we are called to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. This entails prioritizing our relationship with Him above all else, even in the midst of abundance. By keeping our hearts aligned with God’s will, we acknowledge that all we have comes from Him and ultimately belongs to Him. We cultivate a spirit of dependency, humility, and gratitude, recognizing that our true satisfaction and fulfillment are found in Him alone.
